Mail Service Details

This section of the Properties page displays the mail service details for the group.

You can edit the following mail attributes:

Group Status. Choose the group’s status from the drop-down list:

Mail Host. Enter the mail host for the group. This item is the fully qualified host name of the Messaging Server MTA that is the final destination of messages sent to this recipient.

Primary Email Address. Enter the primary email address for the group. This item identifies the group’s primary email address (the email address retrieved and displayed by white-pages lookup applications)

Alternate Mail Address. Enter the email addresses, separated by commas, to be used as alternate RFC 822 email addresses of this recipient.

If the Messaging Server MTA receives mail with a “to” header with an alternate email address, it rewrites the header with the value of the mail attribute and routes the email to that inbox. The reverse-pointing addresses are rewritten from the value of any of a user's alternate mail address attributes to the value of the user's mail attribute. (That is, the MTA will rewrite the following headers, if they match this attribute, to the value of the user's mail attribute.)

Max Message Size (bytes). Enter the maximum size, in bytes, of messages sent or to this group.

This value determines the size in units of MTA blocks of the largest message that can be sent to this group. The limit does not apply to messages sent by the group. If this attribute is set, it overrides the value of the maximum message size set for all groups at the organization (domain) level.

Defer Mail Processing. Click Yes to defer address expansion of the group entry. Click No to perform the address expansion immediately.

Moderators. In this list box, you can add and remove moderators of the group.

Enter the LDAP URI or email address identifying the moderators allowed to submit messages to this list. Only those messages that are submitted by the moderator are sent to the members of this list. Messages submitted by others are forwarded to the moderators for approval and resubmitting.

To add moderators to the group:

  1. Click Search and Add.
  2. The Add Moderators page appears.

  3. Click one of the following radio buttons:
  4. Match All of the Following
    Match Any of the Following
